Score or roundup GREAT FINDS NOW for your home with February sales and specials
By Lindsay Canright

Our city plays hostest-with-the-mostest to hordes of football fans ready to watch the gauntlet unfold at NRG Stadium, where Super Bowl LI tips off Feb. 5., and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo kicks up its heels March 7-26 at NRG Park.

Take a cue from Super Bowl halftime headliner Lady Gaga, who says, “Creativity is the greatest form of rebellion,” and get creative with your home’s decor and necessities for both extravaganzas. There are a host of local deals to go gaga over that are also on trend for 2017.

This year, Houston designer Gin Braverman is a fan of comfy seating that is perfect for lounging game day away.

“The juxtaposition of clean architectural lines with cozy overstuffed upholstered sofas, chairs and poufs is pretty irresistible,” Braverman says.

Karen Davis, the local creator of design blog Marker Girl, predicts jewel tones are a winning bet for 2017. Colors are key to Davis’ budget-friendly design strategy, which adds pizzazz using pops of accessories.

“Adding color by updating accessories is my favorite way to change a room without the cost,” she says. “First take all of the accessories out of the room and only add back what you really love. Then buy fresh, new, colorful accessories to freshen up your room.”

To give your home a refresh before company arrives, take to the streets of Houston to hunt for furnishings, housewares and appliances. You’ll find some colorful, some practical and all dynamite in the deal department.
